Amazon ElastiCache for Redis now supports auto-failover and backup/restore for T2 node types. This launch enables you to build development and test environments based on T2 nodes that have comparable setups as production general-purpose M and compute-optimized R node environments.
You can create snapshots of your ElastiCache for Redis clusters running on T2 nodes, which can then be used for restore operations. Additionally, you can enable multi-AZ auto-failover for ElastiCache to automatically fail over to a read replica on master failure.
This feature is available in all regions and for all existing and new ElastiCache for Redis T2 Clusters. To create a new cluster or modify your existing cluster, log in to the Amazon Web Services Management Console.
