Starting today, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL supports the RDKit extension.
RDKit is a collection of cheminformatics and machine-learning software written in C++ and Python that enables customers to perform research on chemical structures. Customers who perform chemical or biological research can use this extension to build visualizations and tooling to enable non-technical chemists or other stakeholders to ask common chemistry or cheminformatics related questions from data stored in Aurora PostgreSQL databases.
RDKit is only supported for version 11.8 or higher. If you create the RDKit extension on a version prior to 11.8, you will need to drop and recreate it when you convert to 11.8. Please review the Aurora documentation to learn more. You can view a list of all PostgreSQL extensions supported on RDS on the Amazon Web Services User Guide.
Amazon Aurora combines the performance and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. It provides up to three times better performance than the typical PostgreSQL database, together with increased scalability, durability, and security.
