Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK) now offers an Amazon MSK version 2.4.1.1, that addresses a critical bug KAFKA-9752 in Apache Kafka version 2.4.1 that can lead consumer groups to perpetually rebalance. Amazon MSK recommends that all customers who use or plan to use Apache Kafka 2.4.1, instead use or upgrade their clusters to Amazon MSK version 2.4.1.1. After September 23, 2020, Apache Kafka 2.4.1 will no longer be offered for new Amazon MSK clusters.
Amazon MSK version 2.4.1.1 is identical to Apache Kafka 2.4.1, except that it includes code that addresses the fix for KAFKA-9752. Please visit the Amazon MSK user documentation for more information on 2.4.1.1, including a description of the difference between Apache Kafka version 2.4.1 and Amazon MSK version 2.4.1.1.
