Amazon Budgets allows you to monitor your cloud costs and usage, as well as utilization and coverage for your purchased Reserved Instances. You can receive notifications when costs and usage exceed (or are forecasted to exceed) your budgeted thresholds, and/or when your utilization or coverage falls under your target thresholds.

With daily budgets, you can track cloud spend on a more granular level than before. Daily budgets allows you to catch unexpected spend and take action sooner, rather than waiting until later in the month as you might with monthly or quarterly budgets. Prior to this launch, daily budgets were only available for Reservation budget types.

To get started, go to the Amazon Budgets Console and create a new (or edit an existing) cost or usage budget. Set the budget period to daily and save the budget. Each day, Amazon Budgets will evaluate yesterday’s cost or usage (the last full day of cloud spend and usage) against the budgeted amount and send alerts if any thresholds have been exceeded. By filtering the daily budget on service, tags, linked account and/or cost category, you can monitor workloads on the granularity level that meets your needs.

Daily budgets are available immediately in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD. Please refer to the Amazon Web Services Region Table for more information about Amazon Budgets availability.
