Amazon IoT Device Management customers use Secure Tunneling to securely access and troubleshoot remote devices located behind a restricted firewall. Now, customers can make concurrent client connections to a single device over a secure tunnel using the new multiplexing capability. Multiplexing enables customers to perform more advanced device troubleshooting, such as modifying parameters via a web application on the device while simultaneously issuing remote shell commands to verify the device is working properly.
Secure Tunneling provides customers a secure connection between source and destination devices that is brokered through a cloud proxy service on Amazon Web Services. To provide secure bi-directional communication between each device, tunnels are authenticated with the cloud proxy service and data transmitted through the tunnel is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS).
This feature is available to customers through the Amazon Web Services Console and CLI. To learn more about Secure Tunneling, see the documentation. To learn more about managing connected devices at scale, please visit the Amazon IoT Device Management website.
