Amazon Storage Gateway now consolidates monitoring a gateway’s CloudWatch Alarms directly from the Storage Gateway console. Access to CloudWatch Alarms in the console, along with the existing CloudWatch Metrics, provides you continuous visibility into gateway health and performance all in one place. Now you can quickly take action on alarms triggered when defined metrics fall outside thresholds you configure.
With this launch, you can monitor CloudWatch Alarms for gateway metrics such as cache status, disk performance, and health notifications for VMware vSphere high availability in the Storage Gateway console. You can also choose to receive alarm notifications by subscribing an alarm to the Amazon SNS from the Amazon CloudWatch console.
Storage Gateway is a hybrid cloud storage service that provides on-premises applications access to virtually unlimited cloud storage using NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and iSCSI-VTL interfaces through file, tape, and volume gateways. You can use the service for backing up and archiving data to Amazon Web Services, using on-premises file shares backed by cloud storage, and providing low-latency access to in-cloud data for on-premises applications.
Starting today, you can access CloudWatch Alarms from Storage Gateway console in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. Step-by-step instructions are located in the Amazon Storage Gateway User Guide. CloudWatch charges apply when you enable CloudWatch Alarms.
