Starting today Amazon Transit Gateway supports internet protocol (IP) multicast in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
IP multicast on Amazon Transit Gateway makes it easy for customers to build multicast applications in the cloud and distribute data across thousands of connected Amazon Virtual Private Cloud networks. Multicast delivers a single stream of data to many users simultaneously. It is a preferred protocol to stream multimedia content and subscription data such as news articles and stock quotes, to a group of subscribers. With support for IP multicast, Amazon Transit Gateway makes it easy for customers to build multicast applications in the cloud and easily monitor, manage, and scale multicast configurations up to hundreds of receivers.
Amazon Web Services is the first cloud provider to offer native IP multicast capabilities that enable customers to migrate their multicast applications to the cloud and take advantage of the elasticity and scalability that Amazon Web Services provides.
