Amazon Elasticsearch Service now supports gzip compression for HTTP payloads. With HTTP compression, you can reduce the size of your documents to up to 80%, lowering bandwidth utilization and latency, leading to improved transfer speeds.
We have added a new cluster setting that enables or disables HTTP compression dynamically without having to restart your domain. HTTP compression uses the standard gzip file format. To send and receive the compressed content, the clients must have the relevant HTTP headers in their requests and responses. Existing clients will continue to work as-is.
HTTP compression feature is available for all domains running Elasticsearch versions 6.0 and higher. To learn more, please see the documentation.
HTTP compression feature is now available in Amazon Elasticsearch Service domains in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD.
