Starting today, Amazon EC2 M6g, C6g, and R6g instances are available in the bare metal option in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet, and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD. Amazon EC2 M6g, C6g, and R6g instances deliver up to 40% better price/performance over comparable x86-based instances for a broad spectrum of workloads, including application servers, micro-services, high-performance computing, CPU-based machine learning inference, electronic design automation, gaming, open-source databases, and in-memory caches. These instances were already available in these regions in 8 sizes, with up to 64 vCPUs, without the bare metal option.
Amazon EC2 C6g, M6g, and R6g instances are powered by Amazon Graviton2 processors that are built utilizing 64-bit Arm Neoverse cores and custom silicon designed by Amazon Web Services. Amazon Graviton2 processors deliver a major leap in performance and capabilities over first-generation Amazon Graviton processors, with 7x performance, 4x the number of compute cores, 2x larger caches, and 5x faster memory. Amazon Graviton2 processors feature always-on 256-bit DRAM encryption and 50% faster per core encryption performance compared to the first-generation Amazon Graviton processors.
Amazon EC2 M6g, C6g, and R6g instances are built on the Amazon Web Services Nitro System, a collection of Amazon Web Services -designed hardware and software innovations that enable the delivery of efficient, flexible, and secure cloud services with isolated multi-tenancy, private networking, and fast local storage. These instances provide up to 19 Gbps Elastic Block Store (EBS) bandwidth and up to 25 Gbps network bandwidth and are supported by a broad ecosystem of operating systems and services from Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) as well as Amazon Web Services. These include popular Linux distributions (Amazon Linux 2, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Fedora, CentOS, and Debian), FreeBSD/NetBSD, the Amazon Corretto distribution of OpenJDK, container services (Amazon ECR, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, Docker, and Rancher), agents (Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Systems Manager, Crowdstrike, Datadog, Dynatrace, Honeycomb.io, Qualys, Rapid7, Tenable, and Trend Micro), and developer/automation tools (Amazon Code Suite, Chef, CircleCI, GitLab, Jenkins, and TravisCI). Since launch, many customers and partners are realizing significant price performance benefits by adopting Amazon Graviton2 based instances with minimal effort.
With this regional expansion, Amazon EC2 M6g, C6g, and R6g instances are now available across US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Northern California, Oregon), Europe (Ireland, Frankfurt, London, Stockholm), South America (Sao Paulo), Amazon GovCloud (US) regions, Canada (Central), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul), China (Beijing ) Region, operated by Sinnet and China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. These instances are available in 8 sizes, with 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 48, and 64 vCPUs in addition to the bare metal option. M6g, C6g and R6g instances are purchasable in China as On-Demand, as Reserved instances, or as Spot instances.
