Amazon Storage Gateway adds a new gateway type, Amazon FSx File Gateway, providing fast, low-latency on-premises access to fully managed file shares in Amazon Web Services. Customers that want to take advantage of fully managed storage in the cloud, but require low latency for their users and applications, can now easily extend Amazon FSx for Windows File Server into their existing on-premises environment.
Many on-premises desktop applications and workloads including home directories are latency-sensitive, which can lead to slower performance when directly accessing from remote locations. Amazon FSx File Gateway optimizes your on-premises access to fully managed, low-latency cloud file storage by maintaining a local cache of frequently accessed data, enabling faster performance and reduced data transfer cost.
Amazon FSx File Gateway is available today in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. To get started, you can launch the Amazon FSx File Gateway as a virtual machine with a few clicks in the Amazon Storage Gateway Management Console.
