Starting today Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) for Oracle supports the creation of a DB instance with a single pluggable database (PDB) using the Oracle multitenant architecture in the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD, and the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet. This architecture enables the DB instance to operate as a multitenant container database (CDB). A PDB is a set of schemas, schema objects, and non-schema objects that logically appears to a client as a non-CDB.

Amazon RDS for Oracle supports the multitenant container database for version 19c (starting from the Release Update 19.0.0.0.ru-2021-04.rur-2021-04.r1) for customers who use any Edition of Oracle Database with the License Included or Bring Your Own License models.

Amazon RDS makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database on Amazon Web Services.
