Amazon DynamoDB now helps you meet regulatory compliance and business continuity requirements through enhanced backup features, including copying on-demand backups cross-account and cross-Region, cost allocation tagging for backups, and transitioning backups to cold storage. In addition, backups managed through Amazon Web Services Backup are now stored in the Amazon Web Services Backup vault, which allows you to encrypt and secure your backups by using Amazon Web Services Key Management Service (KMS) key that is independent from your DynamoDB table encryption key.
You can use on-demand backups to create full backups of your DynamoDB tables with a single click, and with zero impact on performance or availability. Previously, creating backup copies in different Amazon Web Services accounts and Regions required building and managing custom scripts. You now can use Amazon Web Services Backup to easily define cross-account and cross-Region backup copy preferences enabling you to support your data protection requirements. You also can tag backups to simplify cost allocation and define cold storage lifecycle preferences to reduce your backup costs. To use these enhanced backup features, you simply need to opt-in to have Amazon Web Services Backup manage your DynamoDB backups via Amazon Web Services Management Console or Amazon Web Services Backup APIs.
These new backup features are available in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
