Amazon Glue Schema Registry now supports Protocol Buffers (Protobuf), enabling customers to use Protobuf schemas to govern the evolution of streaming data and centrally control data quality from data streams to data lake. Glue Schema Registry provides Apache-licensed serializers and deserializers for Protobuf that integrate with Java applications developed for Apache Kafka/Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK), Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, and Kafka Streams.
Glue Schema Registry is a serverless feature of Amazon Glue offered at no additional charge that enables you to validate and control the evolution of streaming data using schemas registered in Apache Avro, JSON Schema and Protobuf formats. Customers using Protobuf schemas can use the same compatibility modes offered in Glue Schema Registry for Apache Avro and JSON Schemas to control the evolution of their data streams.
Protobuf schemas are supported in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. Visit the Glue Schema Registry developer guide to get started.
