Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for PostgreSQL now supports PostgreSQL major version 14. PostgreSQL 14 includes performance improvements for parallel queries, heavily-concurrent workloads, partitioned tables, logical replication, and vacuuming. PostgreSQL 14 also improves functionality with new capabilities. For example, you can cancel long-running queries if a client disconnects and you can close idle sessions if they time out. In addition, stored procedures now return data.
Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL supports over 80 extensions and loadable modules including PostGIS 3.1 for geospatial data, pg_cron for scheduling database jobs, and data import and export with Amazon S3. Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL supports the latest Graviton2 instances including T4g for bursty workloads and X2g for memory-intensive workloads. You can upgrade your database using several options including upgrade in-place, restore from a snapshot, replicate with the pglogical extension, or use Amazon Data Migration Service.
Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale PostgreSQL deployments in the cloud. Learn more about upgrading your database instances from the Amazon RDS User Guide. See Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL Pricing for pricing details.
