Today, Amazon Compute Optimizer launches a new capability that makes it easier for customers to optimize their EC2 instances by leveraging multiple CPU architectures.
Starting today, customers can specify both x86 and Arm as the preferred EC2 instance architecture for their EC2 instance type recommendations. When customers specify both, Compute Optimizer recommends up to 3 options selected from both x86-based and Amazon Graviton-based instance types based on the great price/performance ratio for the workloads. In addition, Compute Optimizer now offers a migration effort rating, and a migration guide when it recommends Graviton instance options for existing x86-based instances. The migration effort rating, ranging from very low to high, reflects the level of effort that might be required to migrate from the current instance type to the recommended instance type, based on the differences in instance architecture and whether the workloads are compatible with the recommended instance type. This allows Compute Optimizer customers to find the workloads that can deliver big return for small Graviton migration effort.
This feature is available in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD, at no additional charge.
