EC2 announces the general availability of Ubuntu Pro on Amazon EC2 in a subscription-included model. You can now easily deploy on-demand subscription included Ubuntu Pro instances from the Amazon EC2 console. You will be charged on a per-second basis for Ubuntu Pro subscription-included instances. For any new Ubuntu Pro deployments, you will now see Ubuntu Pro charges in the Elastic Cloud Compute section of your Amazon Web Services bill.
With Ubuntu Pro, you get five additional years of security updates for the base Ubuntu operating system, security coverage for ~23000+ packages in Ubuntu Universe repository, live kernel patching, etc. For example, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will reach end of standard support in May 2023, however with Ubuntu Pro 18.04 LTS you can continue to receive security coverage till April 2028.
Ubuntu Pro is available in all Amazon Web Services public regions, including Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. To get started, you can go to the EC2 console, select launch an instance, and find the latest Ubuntu Pro 22.04 AMI in Quick Start section. If you have any followup questions, please contact the Amazon Web Services China Support.
