Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for MySQL now supports creating active-active clusters using the Group Replication plugin. You can use the plugin to set up active-active replication between your RDS for MySQL database instances to provide continuous availability for your applications. Writing to two or more database instances in an active-active cluster can help maximize availability and reduce write latency.
Group Replication is a community plugin developed and maintained by the MySQL community. You can set up an active-active cluster with up to nine RDS for MySQL databases instances using the Group Replication plugin. The plugin natively supports automatic conflict detection and resolution.
