Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for MySQL now supports MySQL minor version 5.7.44. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest minor versions to fix known security vulnerabilities in prior versions of MySQL, and to benefit from the bug fixes, performance improvements, and new functionality added by the MySQL community.
MySQL 5.7 has reached community end of life in October, 2023. MySQL 5.7 will reach RDS end of standard support on Feb 29, 2024. If you do not plan to use MySQL 5.7 after Feb 29, 2024, we recommend you upgrade to MySQL 8.0 major version at the earliest. If you are planning to use MySQL 5.7 beyond that date, we recommend you opt in to Amazon RDS Extended Support starting in December 2023. RDS Extended Support is offered exclusively on RDS for MySQL 5.7.44. You can learn more about RDS Extended Support including the timelines and compatible versions in the Amazon RDS User Guide.
You can leverage automatic minor version upgrades to automatically upgrade your databases to more recent minor versions during scheduled maintenance windows. Learn more about upgrading your database instances, including automatic minor version upgrades, in the Amazon RDS User Guide.
