Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for PostgreSQL now supports the latest minor versions PostgreSQL 15.5, 14.10, 13.13, 12.17, and 11.22. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest minor versions to fix known security vulnerabilities in prior versions of PostgreSQL, and to benefit from the bug fixes, performance improvements, and new functionality added by the PostgreSQL community. With this release, RDS for PostgreSQL now supports pgactive extension for PostgreSQL versions 11.22 and higher, 12.17 and higher, 13.13 and higher, 14.10 and higher, and 15.4-R2 and higher.
PostgreSQL 11 reached community end of life on 9th November, 2023 and will reach RDS end of standard support on Feb 29, 2024. If you do not plan to use PostgreSQL 11 after Feb 29, 2024, we recommend you upgrade to PostgreSQL 15 at the earliest.. If you are planning to use PostgreSQL 11 beyond that date, we recommend you opt in to Amazon RDS Extended Support starting in December 2023. RDS Extended Support is offered exclusively on Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL version 11.22. You are able to leverage automatic minor version upgrades to automatically upgrade your databases to more recent minor versions during scheduled maintenance windows. You can also leverage Amazon RDS Blue/Green deployments to perform a major or minor version upgrade with minimal downtime.
