Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) for PostgreSQL now supports the latest minor versions PostgreSQL 15.3, 14.8, 13.11, 12.15, and 11.20. We recommend you upgrade to the latest minor versions to fix known security vulnerabilities in prior versions of PostgreSQL, and to benefit from the bug fixes, performance improvements, and new functionality added by the PostgreSQL community. Please refer to the PostgreSQL community announcement for more details about the release.
With this release, RDS for PostgreSQL adds support for a new extension HypoPG — an extension for creating hypothetical indexes, which allows you to evaluate potential impact on query plans without building real indexes. Support for pgvector is added to RDS for PostgreSQL 14.8 and higher, and 13.11 and higher. This release also includes updates for existing supported extensions: pg_cron is updated to 1.5.2, plrust is updated to 1.1.1, and plv8 is updated to 3.1.6. Please see the list of supported extensions in the Amazon RDS User Guide for specific versions.
You are able to leverage automatic minor version upgrades to automatically upgrade your databases to more recent minor versions during scheduled maintenance windows. Learn more about upgrading your database instances, including minor and major version upgrades, in the Amazon RDS User Guide.
