Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) now supports a progress indicator for improved visibility into the storage optimization process. With the progress indicator, you get better visibility into the progress of storage optimization process such as scaling up of storage sizes and changing the storage volumes.
The database instance goes through a storage optimization state when you modify the instance for requests such as increasing the storage size or changing the storage volume type. Further modifications to the instance are deferred until the storage optimization is complete. With the progress indicator, you will now be able to get a better visibility into the progress and hence an estimate time for the storage optimization to complete. This progress indicator is available at the instance level for all the three deployment options - Single-AZ instances, Multi-AZ instances, and Multi-AZ deployment option with two readable standbys.
Storage optimization progress indicator is supported on all the versions of Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and SQL Server databases. For a full list of the Amazon RDS regional availability and supported engine versions, refer the Amazon RDS User Guide. To get started, create or modify a fully managed Amazon RDS database in the Amazon RDS Management Console.
