Amazon S3 Storage Lens now provides request metrics for prefixes within an S3 bucket. Prefix-level metrics like total request counts, request counts by status code, bytes downloaded, and more, help you better understand activity for the largest prefixes within a bucket, and identify opportunities to optimize your S3 storage.
Amazon S3 Storage Lens is a cloud storage analytics feature that delivers organization-wide visibility into object storage usage and activity. Now with new prefix-level metrics, you can view activity and detailed status code metrics for your largest prefixes, which provides more granular visibility into buckets that are shared across multiple applications. For example, 403 status code metrics can help to identify prefixes with incorrectly configured permissions. Similarly, request count metrics can be used to identify infrequently accessed prefixes that can be moved to a more optimal storage class. To get started, you can enable prefix-level metrics as part of S3 Storage Lens advanced metrics and view them in your Storage Lens dashboard in the Amazon S3 Console, or in your metrics export.
Amazon S3 Storage Lens is available in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. To learn more about Storage Lens activity and status code metrics by prefix refer to the documentation.
