Amazon OpenSearch Service now lets you validate the configuration changes before applying them via the console, SDK or the APIs. With this new option, Amazon OpenSearch Service performs detailed validation of the desired changes and provides a report. The option also reports if the change will require a blue/green deployment to help you plan your changes better.
Previously, when you submitted a configuration change any validation errors identified while applying the changes would result in the domain being stuck in processing and require manual intervention. However, with this new enhanced dry-run you can check for possible validation errors up-front and take corrective action as reported by the dry-run analysis before applying the change. This provides confidence in applying the changes and also avoid disruptions while actually applying the changes.
Now, when performing a configuration change using the management console, you can select the ‘Dry Run’ option to validate your configuration changes before applying them. You can also perform these checks through the configuration APIs by using the new ‘DryRun’ with ‘verbose’ parameter when calling UpdateDomainConfig API.
Enhanced dry-run for configuration changes is now available for Amazon OpenSearch Service domains in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
