Amazon Data Firehose now supports specifying a file extension for objects delivered to S3 destinations.
Compressed data such as CloudWatch Logs are ingested into Amazon Data Firehose in GZIP format. With this feature, you can append a file extension such as .gzip for objects delivered to the S3 bucket. With file extensions to S3 objects, Amazon Athena, Apache Spark, or other applications can determine the file type and read compressed objects. You can enable this feature for both new and existing delivery streams.
To learn more, explore the Amazon Data Firehose developer guide. This feature can be used in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD as well as all commercial Amazon Web Services regions where Amazon Data Firehose is available.
