Amazon Graviton3-based M7g instances are now generally available for use with new provisioned Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK) clusters. MSK provisioned clusters running on M7g instances deliver up to 24% price/ performance improvement, up to 29% higher write and read throughput, and up to 27% reduction in CPU usage over comparable MSK clusters running on M5 instances.
Amazon Graviton3 processors are the latest generation of custom-designed Amazon Graviton processors built on the Amazon Nitro System. The Graviton3 processors based M7g instances deliver up to 25% higher storage throughput and up to 88% increase in network throughput compared to similar sized M5 instances to deliver price/performance benefits for Kafka workloads. Amazon Graviton-based instances use up to 60% less energy than comparable M5 instances, so that customers can achieve their sustainability goals. With MSK’s support for M7g instances, we are bringing the benefits of Amazon Web Services’ Graviton’s ARM-based compute and lower operational overhead of MSK to mission-critical Kafka workloads.
M7g instances on MSK are available today in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
